For a Fortune 100 company’s new Bay Area manufacturing facility, Flad Architects envisioned a transformative space that prioritized employee well-being and creativity. Given the facility’s needs, solid surface materials were extensively used, including custom thermoformed hallway benches for researcher break areas.
ISEC, Inc. who won the project bid, selected surfaceLAB to bring the design to life. To ensure the cantilevered, curved benches could support seated users, surfaceLAB created a full-scale mock-up for on-site testing. surfaceLAB handled all thermoforming and fabrication, including the benches, solid-surface handrails, and seamless transitions in window bench areas.
